Pop Of Color: Eye Makeup Look #1

March 10, 2014

The weather here in Switzerland is changing, slowly but surely, and Spring is definitely on its way.

Because of the sunny weather, I've been liking eye makeup with a touch of color. I'm not really one to wear some crazy eye shadow or anything that really stands out, but I do love a touch, a hint, of color that makes my eyes stand out.

Here's what I used for this look:

On my spots/pimples I used MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 and Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in Sand all over my face. To set my concealer and foundation and to mattify my skin I used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus with a powder brush. On my cheeks I used my new MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose. I pulled this up along my cheekbones until my hairline to contour my face and skipped bronzer.

The only thing I do with my brows every day is apply Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper & Hair Touch Up in Rich Brown. This cream-gel formula colors my brow hair and sets them at the same time.

For my lips, I wanted something neutral that gave my lips a natural shade of pink / rose. I chose MAC lustre lipstick in Patisserie and topped that with Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Afternoon Tea

I primed my eyes with MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly and added a thin layer of Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow in Bad to the Bronze on my lid. Using a fluffy crease brush, I mixed MAC Wedge and Charcoal Brown and worked those into the crease, focusing on the outer corner and brushing inwards. I blend those shades until they look somewhat natural and there are no harsh lines. Then, using my ring finger, I added L'Oréal Infallible Eye Shadow in Hourglass Beige. This is a beautiful shimmery shade which stays put all day and really makes your eyes pop. I finished off my eye lids with Jet Set Waterproof Eyeliner in Dark Brown by Smashbox. I find using a dark brown gel liner instead of a black makes my eyes look softer.

And for my pop of color I used MAC Eye Kohl in Minted. I applied this on the bottom lash line about three-quarters way in. This emerald green type of shade is perfect for brown/green eyes and goes so well with brown/bronze shades. On the last quarter part of my lash line I added NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in French Fries, which is a "pearly golden-olive". I think this pulls together the lid with the bottom lash line, blending the green liner with the rest of the eye.

Another shade of eye liner which I use very often is MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Undercurrent. This is more of a teal shade with shimmer but just as pretty.

I finished off the eyes with one layer of Diorshow Maximizer Serum Base (which I swear by to plump up your lashes if they're thin) and three layers of L'Oréal Mega Volume Collagène Black Smoke mascara

I hope you liked this look! Do you use some color in your eye makeup?

  1. This look is gorgeous! I love using purple or blues for pops of color. Stereo Rose looks so nice! I've been wanting to buy a msf, but idk which to get.

    1. Thank you Lupe! Oh ya, purple is definitely fun - will be coming up on this space soon ;) And I'm going to try venturing into using a blue pop of color, but I'm a bit scared haha! Stereo Rose is seriously beautiful and a little bit goes a long way so I find it's a pretty good "investment" and will last a loooong time.

  2. Wow, I love how detailed this post is! Most beauty bloggers just show which products they used but don't really give instructions. This is wonderful! Thanks Michelle!

    1. Thanks so much Toni! I really try to write my posts in a way that I'd like to read them if I were a visitor of this blog, so I'm glad that others see that the same way! :)
